 Port Reviews
On-Your-Own

Ships Docked in the Port of Valletta, Malta

Welcome to ePortReviews.com. This site contains detailed information about cruise ports throughout the world. While the information contained in this site is for use by cruisers wanting specific information about the ports they are going to visit during their cruise from other passengers that have already been there, it is also designed for you to share your experiences. The main port reviews for each port are written by people who have cruised extensively and are shared with the idea that you may choose to go on your own.

It is no secret that shore excursion sales are a huge part of the cruise line's income, but many people are independent enough to strike out on their own if they have enough information to do so. This site will provide that sort of information and make your cruise much more enjoyable than if you stick to the traditional shore excursion Here is the difference;

Take a Shore Excursion: You and 44 of your soon to be closest friends all meet in the ship's theater and wait until your tour number is called. Then you swarm down to the gangway one by one and get off the ship. Once you have been led to your motor coach, you push your way onto the motor coach and end up in horrible seats because the seasoned shore excursion people know how to get the best seats and left you in the dust when boarding the motor coach. The tour guide comes on and start talking at you while you neighbor that has the window is talking to his wife in the window seat in front of you and will not shut up. You can't hear what the tour guide is saying and are starting to get irritated. Then you finally arrive at your destination and wait, and wait and wait some more. Finally your group leader returns and hands out tickets to everyone. Once again the guy in the window next to you grabs your ticket and you end up the last person in line to enter the attraction. You see something that you would really like to explore, but the group moves in the opposite direction to something that you are not at all interested in. You are extremely thirsty, but cannot stop until the group takes a break. You can't hear the tour guide because other people crowd around him or her and ask an endless array of stupid questions. This one idiot keeps insisting he knows more than the tour guide. Finally, it comes time for a break only all 44 people converge on the snack bar at the same time and by the time your get to order, it is time to move on. And so it goes. By the time you get back to the ship and finally get off the motor coach, stand in line to clear security, wait while 44 people put their purchases through the x-ray machine, look for their sign and sail cards, wait forever for an elevator and finally push your way onto a full car with who else but the expert that is now telling everyone what they saw.

Go On-Your-Own: Ahhhh, you disembark when you want, not when someone tells you to. You go see what you want, not what someone thinks you should see. You stop when you want, not when someone tells you to. You see 10 times what the shore excursion people do because there is no waiting, you simply go. You craft your own personal experience in a port doing what you like to do, when you want to do it. Best of all, you save hundreds of dollars during the cruise by not purchasing shore excursion and you have a better time, see and experience more and get the true flavor of the port rather than a distorted view presented by a group tour.

ePortReviews.com is unique in that it will help you have a better cruise experience On-Your-Own. When a port is not suitable for an On-Your-own experience, we will share that too
